Antoine Wilson’s 2022 psychological thriller Mouth to Mouth is about an art dealer, Jeff Cook, who runs into an old college acquaintance at JFK airport. After their flight is delayed, the two hold up in the first-class lounge–on Jeff’s ticket–where he recounts the key events in his life after college that led him to where he is today. Although Mouth to Mouth is not a book I would typically pick up, I enjoyed Antoine Wilson’s ability to touch on deeper topics without compromising the narrative’s pace and style. Further, Wilson’s use of an embedded narrative, the entire novel’s setting confined to the airport, makes this novel an enjoyable audiobook. Clocking in at just under five hours, listeners feel like they are listening to Jeff’s story while they wait for their own delayed flights.
